I’m so sick of male writers killing off the wife at the beginning of a story as a plot device. It’s gross and lazy. How can I make my hero a sympathetic bachelor while showing he’s a stand up guy capable of monogamy? Easy…kill off the wife. Free man. I fucking hate it, takes me out of the story and wreaks of misogyny.
