It is initiation day in the Dauntless faction. Tris has been secretly preparing for the fear simulator that they will go through. She faces her fears (only 7), and after, she is injected with a suspicious serum. After dinner, tris wakes up to see her friends all acting mechanical and getting dressed. She follows them, pretending to be asleep as they are armed. They attack her old faction, where her mom saves her. 80

My goal for this week is to read 80 pages.

If I was the author, I don't think that I would change the story at all. This is because there are many unpredictable events such as Al betraying Tris and attacking her with Peter. Also, I believe that the balance of good and bad characters is perfect for the story because there are characters such as Peter, who want to kill Tris out of jealousy, and there are also protective characters such as Four who help Tris.

The exposition is the part of a story where the author describes the characters and the setting of the story. In my story, the exposition tells the readers about the main character, Beatrice, and the society that she is in. Her city is divided into 5 factions, which are Abnegation, Erudite, Candor, Amity, and Dauntless. The author allows us to infer that the story takes place in the far future after a major war. 80.

(Part 2) I have not been able to reach my reading goal of 80 pages this week because I was 5 pages short. I found that I always have been able to reach about 75-80 pages each week. I think that this is because I often forget to read during the week, and procrastinate, forcing me to read about 25 pages a day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I will improve on this by setting time aside early in the week to read.Goal:80

The main character, Tris, selected the faction, dauntless. So far, 3 of the 12 initiates have died, but the surviving initiates have been told that only 10 of them and the dauntless born will be kept. Tris begins combat training, and finds that she is very bad at fighting. She is knocked out on her first fight, but she has also befriended other initiates, Al, Will, and Christina. (Part 1)
