For a book about revising, this is really poorly revised. Sentences like “Not merely re-understanding, by extension, your relation to *a set of ideas that are moving through what you have put down on paper*” and “In his classic (venerable isn’t too strong a word) book…” are so obviously verbose, clunky, and unclear, that I can’t take anything the writer says seriously.
