Still somewhat intrigued. Since the book was so far from the source material, they could've at least referenced other ballets. (Don Quixote multiple times honetsly, Le Corsaire, La Bayadere, the Legend of Love...maybe not the last one but anything interesting, at least.)

Siegfried is annoying. I was too hyped for this idiot.

56 pages left! Thank God.

This mirror thing reminds me of Melowy (elite ball knowledge ik), but that's also because it's such an overused trope. Maybe we can—I dunno—put some other ballets to use and use the Wilis? Again, this book barely follows Swan Lake, so where's the harm in having a few extra characters? And this book made blonde Washington look important. Boo.

Just got to Part 2. I can formally say that I am disappointed. For the most part, it just didn't live up to my expectations. Siegfried was completely stripped of his main role. I was expecting a simple name change and for him to hunt down the MCs. Nope. 🫠 Also, Benno is a bear. I love Benno, even if he's a side character and is frequently left unnamed in the ballet. Why was he even a bear? 4/10 so far

Both of the main characters are pissing me off. They just don't know how to communicate. That's their whole problem. Not much else (except for the swan part, which also comes as a result of—you guessed it—BAD COMMUNICATION!!) Just rename the book to 'How NOT to Communicate (for Kids!)', I think it fits. Don't hit me with the 'its for kids' excuse. Please and thank you. I hope Siegfried is reasonable.

♡ tatin Adding onto this as of page 149 — Literally a perfect place to put Giselle (i really mean the willis), La Sylphide, and Les Sylphides. But of course the only references we have are a few loosely related characters and a place or two. 🫠
