I'm coming to the conclusion that maybe Rebecca Ross's writing isn't for me. I feel like I'm watching the story from afar instead of experiencing it with the characters. Her writing has a storybook/fairytale quality that I appreciate at times, but not for a 500+ page book. I'd rather the story be 300 pages and more succinct. We'll see how far I get!
