On talking about the decisions made around childcare: "Because of these wider social consequences, Governments almost always try to devise policies that help families raise their children well." Must be nice. Where is it America? Because clearly that hasn't been a priority in years, if ever.

Honestly don't really know what to think of this book so far. It's interesting, but it feels like the viewpoint of the writer is biased towards a more colonialist mindset because of her word choice. The main one that keeps popping up is the continual use of differentiation between "developed", "developing" and "underdeveloping" countries. I also laughed out loud when she referred to China as a developing country.
