A gay coming of age story written a century ago, in an era of heavy conservative traditions. Upon reading the summary, I thought it had all the ingredients to be an interesting novel. Sadly I found this novel hard to read and I had to dig up a lot of motivation to come back to it. The main character is far from being likeable and the story takes a lot of pages to unfold while progressing very little.
