I'm finding some repetition in this book. In addition, while it is interesting, the tales are much like my life was as a child. My father farmed with horses for a long time. He saw his children as farm workers turning to mechanization only when we grew up and left home. No affection shown to us children just criticism and punishment.

A friend recommended this book to me. It's about a man who was adopted into a family only to become a laborer not a son. It's full of sad, heart wrenching incidents. I know from reading these pages that this true story will leave an imprint in my mind.
