Don't think I've ever read a novel like this one. Very praiseworthy in its subject and approach, but with a couple of writing/style flaws that will probably place it at 4 stars, not 5, as the topic would deserve.

Very much enjoying this slow, but unique, take on change, death and nature. The scientific gaze of the two murdered zoologists is so much more interesting than the romantic or "normal" natural descriptions one normally finds in nature-heavy novels.

Unique short literary novel about an oddball academic couple (randomly) murdered on a beach.
The novel covers the six days in which their bodies lie in the sand, nibbled on by animals, decomposing in the salty air, while we learn about the history of their relationship. I normally don't like "portrait of a marriage" things, but this is VERY good. Gross in parts, but literary gross!
