Katie Leonard Let me know what you think! I tried listening to the audiobook, but the second half is read by an actual child and I found it unbearable to listen to :/

This is right between a 3 and a 4 for me rating-wise. I really liked the family and the breakdown of their marriage across the U.S. I thought there was really interesting writing done with the documents/boxes format and then polaroids. I liked the switch to the child but they lost me a bit at the end when their kids go off into the desert -- I got the symbolism of the "lost children" but I'm not sure I needed that segment and it then seemed to not fully connect the plight of immigrants and the Apaches. I think it could've been interesting to comment on the parents being so devoted to lost children, they don't pay attention to their own kids, but I think we shouldn't have had the kids' POV at the end then......OR focus on immigration and then leave the kids POV out of it? I'm not sure --- I'd be interested in seeing what else she's written because it read well and there were some great ideas but a little untied by the end.
