The speed of this novel can only be called breakneck.

What in the name of soap opera is this book?
Don't get me wrong, I am thoroughly entertained, but there's no denying it reads like a soap opera script.
If I concentrate the right amount, I can even give the scenes my own bgm.

Captain Wragge and Mrs Lecount are incredibly well-matched. Reading about their moves of cunning makes one feel like they're watching a chess game. Brilliant!

I suppose writing about bigamy was all the rage in the Victorian Era.
First I read Jane Eyre this year and now this book. Please let me escape from this plot, marriage gods.

Trying to read this one without any context. I read the first line of the blurb in this edition, and I wanted to smash something. It is so damn hard to read classics without spoiling anything about them. Of course, there are those who will say, 'It's been out for over 150 years, Veromika!' *sigh*
