Old testament is also super focused on practical, live-action repercussions for good or bad behaviour (Moses doesn't see the promised land, first generation wanders in the woods for 40 years, Sodom & Gomorrah), I don't think there is any mention of Heaven or eternal life in the Old Testament. The New Testament is almost entirely focused on Heaven / Hell. Very interesting.

Skipped ahead to the New Testament. Have just finished Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke. Old and New Testaments have totally different styles, so interesting! New Testament is much more focused on Jesus (duh I guess), and appears to revise / make common-sense of a lot of Old Testament teachings (No work on Sabbath, rules around eating, etc). Will need to find someone to chat with about it.

Deuteronomy is a real whacker - many many pages of what’ll go wrong if you don’t follow the bible - some impressive curses: “thou shalt plant a vineyard and thou shalt not gather the grapes thereof.”, “thine ass shalt be violently taken away from before thy face and shall not be restored to thee”.

Through Genesis and Exodus. Both are great chapters, though quite a lot of focus on circumcision in the passage between God and Abraham.

Leviticus is a very long list of dos and don’t- surprisingly literal and practical around the topic of leprosy
