Nags how do you like it? it's so hard to get indian author books in the library here so i am thinking of buying some through flipkart.

Shreya Hi Nags, sorry, just saw this message! Don't find time to login here much, and there's no mobile app for goodreads for BB i think (yet!), I wish there was!:P

This book deals with immigrant women and Indian woman's marriages/ married life. I liked some of the stories, not all, the writing is exceptionally good, and all emotions are conveyed so well, of being caught in two worlds, one very liberated from the village/ small town Indian life, and the other trapped in cultural issues.

We will definitely be able to identify with a lot of the characters and their issues; some are very moving. I did skip two which were more emotional and depressing:-(

I love short stories and that's why I picked this up. I've read short stories of Tagore, Ruskin Bond, Manoj Das, Satyajit Ray, etc. (Set in India/ Indian authors), and only one other woman author, Janhavi Acharekar's Window seat.

One thing with short stories is that you can pick them up anytime and leave some to read later etc:P They keep playing on your mind, and some leave a lasting impression.

Enjoy, if you happen to buy or borrow the book. Will look forward to your review (Your reviews are awesome! Wish I could write like you!)

Btw, I would highly recommend Kamala Das's My Story if you like women authors and autobiographical books. If you know to read malayalam, read that, else the English:-)

Shreya oh wow! Nice:-) And great to know that you read Malayalam, I read it in Malayalam. There are some really good books and authors I have been wanting to read, but haven't read Malayalam books in a long time:( Enjoy shopping!
