Jeez, what's up with this beginning? How is the fmc's mom a therapist and still surprised that her daughter didn't rejoice at being packed up and moved halfway across the world at the drop of a hat with no consideration for fmc's plans for her future?

Not sure I'll be able to get into this ...I'll give it another 50 or so pages.
