Is it wrong that I find the villainous couple 100% more interesting than the hero/heroine? I want to punch Servanne in the face & The Wolf is ok but nothing special (thus far)…but Nicolaa + Lucien are awesomely horny + deranged.

Huh. I’m disappointed that Gil is a woman in disguise. An m/m pairing would’ve made this book much more RAIN MAIDEN-esque. 😂

‘Tears that had been collecting in shiny crescents along her lower lashes, splashed free on a horrified gasp & streaked wetly down her cheeks. Her chin quivered & her limbs shook like young saplings.’ ….(1) Holy ultraviolet prose, Batman. 🫢 (2) I don’t think that first sentence needs a comma. 🧐 (3) He only told you what happened to him after you asked him to! Get a grip, woman. 🙈

‘Her fists scraped against his chest, displacing the carelessly open V of his shirt so that her knuckles skidded into the curling mass of crisp, dark hairs.’ ….Gross. 🤮 Hero’s got a Magnum P.I. chest pelt.

These first 12 pages held 100x more action than the entire 107 pages of my previous read. Promising. 😬

Omg the evil couple were SO good in this novel 😂 I loved this book (and the series in general) but I think I also noted the main couple were a little boring

It’s telling to me when the villain(s) shine as more interesting than the heroic couple. It feels like the author wanted to explore the Robin Hood antagonists more than she cared about creating a Marian figure with depth. So either she’s a “feisty” placeholder for the reader to self-insert, or the real focus should’ve been the baddies like in Collette Gale’s Marian/Nottingham erotica. Focus on who you want to write; don’t force a story into a mold. Changing their names doesn’t mean you’re not writing a Robin-verse fanfic.
