somebody please kill the romantic subplots

I have almost dnfed this book 3 times already, but the mystery keeps me going. so far, we have regrettably checked the squares for "pet names with 'little'", "unseasoned and unreasonable banter", and "absurdly tall hot man", with a side of "but I'm so little and dainty and thin!! FMC".
