This is genuinely such a me problem tho. It really is beautifully written I just only connect with characters when the book is literally inside their brain. if I don’t connect with the characters then it’s hard for me to enjoy a book

It feels like the beginning of a book (Freida mcfadden comes to mind) when you get a prologue and the way it’s written makes you curious for more and you don’t actually understand why/how any of that has happened. But this isn’t a prologue so it’s not like we’ll find it out later on in the story 😭

Okay I’m starting to struggle with the writing now😭 feels like I’m being told a summary of events rather than watching them unfold. It’s poetic and not bad writing at all, but it’s 90% narration 10% dialogue and I feel like we’re just getting the characters actions rather than their reasons or their true thoughts etc. I know their stories but who they actually are…🤷‍♀️

“If you must leave again, tell me,” Davia says softly.
“I will.” This is an easy promise to make. Kyran won’t leave again.”

“Something is growing between the two of them. The silences are companionable now, the time beside the fire relaxing yet somehow charged with possibility. The writing is interesting— it feels almost observational rather than immersive which is what I’m used to. Not a bad thing but just a different reading experience

While I do appreciate learning more about davia it is so hard to reread the same scenes but from her povvvv😭 I get why it’s necessary but I hate when books do this. I like the insight but I always struggle reading books where scenes are repeated. Hopefully it’s not for much longer

I know they don’t speak the same language but I’m craving some dialogue here badly 😭😭😭
