Why is there a rule that all women have to wear dresses in the magical world? And why is the woman in the 3-person councl blond and frail, blushes easily and says little??
I probably shouldn't be judging already, (especially since it's a middle grade book) but this text gives me a cliché ick...
Acually, precisely becuase it's a middle grade book, it should do better - and I hope it still will.

If I come across one (!) more female character described as beautiful and fragile, I might actually DNF this book….
Reading this, one might think it was a book from the early 2000s. All women are shown exclusively as pretty and weak and more quiet/docile than their peers….
