The inaccurate portrayal of 17th century New England is annoying the shit out of me. Of course Puritans read books other than the Bible - poems like Spenser’s Faerie Queen (or Milton’s Paradise Lost) promoted Calvinist views. And why is there a noble living in New England?
Why write historical fiction if you don’t care about the time period? Just write fantasy…

El You might have to make this functionally a picture book and convince yourself 17th century New England isn’t real to properly enjoy this

Boone Ayala I think that’s probably right, and I do think once I get deeper into the fantasy elements this will be easier to ignore
