Currently, the main character, named Brian, is trying to find food. He has already found shelter and water. He is now trying to find berries for food. The book is called Hatchet because Brian's main tool is a hatchet that was a gift from his mother.

Brian has just been found by a fur trapper/wilderness mapper. He has reunited with his family and been on the news. The best character in the novel is Brian Robenson because he is the main character, the only real character in the book, and because of his learning process in the forest.

Brian has found a food supply, has made a spear, and created fire. Oh, and survived a bear encounter. One of the main conflicts is that he can't catch fish and are only eating berries.
