this book is amazing

the breakdown of all the forces and influences involved, and the various perspectives examined, the acknowledgement of all the differing groups &individuals in those groups) and how they worked with or against each other and how that changed over time, it's quite revealing and fascinating. as a u.s.american, learning about all the religious developments in this time is interesting as well.
