Yes, amateur sleuth Patricia Campbell is back, baby!!! I loved that she never doubted her trust with Slick, because she always gave Patricia the benefit of the doubt- even when it didn’t align with her Christian faith and prosperous lifestyle.

Also, I like how the author outlines white feminism, where Patricia goes back to solving the crime because it now involves her child.

Are all the men backstabbing, sexist gaslighters to their wives?!!! I’m so infuriated.

Like this book is extremely well versed on its social commentaries between the perpetuated misogyny and racism upheld in this Southern community. But oh my lord, these men are so self-serving! Pissing me off undermining their wives about a child snatcher, and then bringing him to the house to have them all apologies.

Patricia, if your hot neighbor suddenly appears in the nick of time from a home invasion and tells you, without any good reason, “No, don’t call the police,” YOU CALL THE DAMN POLICE!

Patricia Campbell, wanting to feel like you’re doing the right thing does NOT include helping the crazy neighbor’s enigmatic (yet fine asf) nephew in co-signing a bank account for him. And she dropped 2K on a check to open it even when he’s a walking red flag??? 😭😭😭

Imagine having your earlobe chewed off by your wack ass neighbor, you’re worried about losing your gifted pearl earrings that you cherish, and it all goes to shit on car ride back home when your husband says that he got it free by a patient who does costume designs.
