We have a tendency not to believe that any power of Satan is being unleashed against the Christian in this world, and so Paul is emphatically saying here that . . . we need supernatural protection to withstand that evil. Rather, we are to reflect Jesus' injunction: "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
