this is already the book of the year for me. as an admittedly mild fan of kuang.... katabasis is GRIPPING me by the throat. i hurt for alice and i hurt for peter. i understand why people find alice's woman hating and anti-feminism (despite her lived experience) grating, and i don't agree with those people. her flaws fit seamlessly into what the narrative is doing and what i can feel is coming.
