Read chapter 1 a week ago, but just finished reading chapter 2. Wasn't sure if I was gonna start logging it, but the syllabus says we're gonna read the whole thing so I figured why not. Anyways. This is really enjoyable to me, partly because it's validating my thoughts on some aspects of my creative process. There's been some good lines here and there about why people should create. I think I will read this again.

This chapter had some good things to say about the purpose of embarrassment in the creative process and I enjoyed reading it. The ability to fully commit yourself to something and put so much uncertainty and potential for embarrassment out there draws people into watching it, and that's what creates the intrigue.

I've read so much I feel like I'm neurotypical. This was another solid chapter talking about the double edged sword of stereotypes and cliché's. But it got a lot to say, and I agree with most of it. A minor digression into talking about fascistic art and what it aims to do is also a nice touch. I hope I can keep up this pace honestly.

Talking about how you need to remove yourself from yourself when directing, while also being aware of how vulnerable you are letting yourself and others be. "We create out of fear, not out of a place of comfort and safety"

Got through a whole different chapter in one day! Yippee!! It makes good points about how crucial it is to give your people attention as a director, but I would say it's also good leadership qualities. We'll see how terror turns out in the next chapter.

A lot of good quotes here talking about the tension that comes from performing and it's all solid points. I like how Bogart writes here as most of these points they make are married to stories that they tell. It communicates more than a wall of text, it also communicates a human experience.

This chapter is talking about how eroticism is reflected in the arts and the interesting thing to me is how this is mentioning other things that other professors have touched on. Feels like a bunch of people are talking about the same things in different terms and I'm just really enjoying the connections.
