I will say there’s more math in this book than I expected.

She’s so used to looking for the why. In cruelty but also in generosity. The point is you don’t need a why. For either. And maybe she feels she doesn’t deserve the generosity but she also didn’t deserve the cruelty. And she must reconcile this new view of the world with her past rationalization of it.

Going from wanting to be remembered above all to thinking becoming nothing with no trace is lucky
