OMG this is awful!
Every bad thing that you can throw into a book happens to this person to explain why she's suicidal. Dead mom. Infertility. Miscarriage. Affair. Divorce. Lack of tenure. Lack of insurance. Dead cat. Horrible therapist.
And I don't care about her at all because she's not a person. She's a tragic trope without a human inside.
And, also, it's really awful.
