He says making art isn’t competitive. Inherently it isn’t but in society today it most definitely is. Most of the time it can be someone’s whole motivation. People make art with the thought of selling it in mind or if they’re not selling it the competition lies in the reaction compared to other works. Saying it isn’t competitive is removing the desire factor from the equation.
