“Caldy More seemed pleased now, satisfied that she uh some small way had contributed to his anxiety. ‘Don’t worry, Mr. Bledding,’ she called out cheerily.”

Caldy More is a great character lol. A Mrs. Danvers type but a smidge sympathetic to the heroine.
