If I can be half the woman that these women were/are, if I can teach my daughter to be a warrior as they were/are, if I can do these I will have been successful in life.

Now three women's lives, timelines, narratives. I am amazed. What these women did for others (strangers, friends, those that asked for help), for their children, for themselves, and the era in which they did it... is awe inspiring.

This reads as a novel told from two timelines, two points of view, not like some nonfiction books I have read in the past. Those were dense, packed with information, not pleasant to read. This Book of Queens has enveloped me in two stories, thus far, with an ease that is very near to the best fiction tales.

Simply reading the prologue has tears threatening to fall. This is going to be rough, necessary, worth it.
