I found myself getting ansty about 80% through, but I’m so happy I stuck it out. It turns out that the rambling anecdotes and seemingly unnecessary details are quite the point of this beautiful story - that life is worth living simply to be alive and to love other people. It was a delightful peek into rural life in Ireland before electricity, that love, laughter and storytelling were the gifts of a simpler life.
