His bed took up nearly half the space, and with its heavy iron frame and black silk sheets, it was exactly what she would have expected. Legend lay in the middle of it; his shirt was gone and he was on his stomach, sheets low enough to reveal the exquisite wings tattooed on his beautiful back.

"You tricked me into marrying you!"
“You begged me to help you.”
"I wanted you to take my emotions away, not make me your wife."
“But I've been a good husband. I told you how to find the Vanished Market, I gave you that Fated map."
"You also threatened to kill me! And you nearly did!"

I didnt matter that his voice was soft. The words were like a period at the end of a sentence, small but absolute in their power.

“Have I scared you already?”
“Are you trying to scare me?”
