Sorry...I got so far into this book before two things happened: 1) It was due back at the library and 2) I realized I just didn't care enough about the characters to finish. I start and stop lots of books - I even have a distinct section here on Goodreads for such books. But I don't think I've ever read read so much of a book - at least 75% - before ditching it.
