im very much in the beginning but i think that maybe Ben started, i don't know, talking to some Satanists or something when he was a teen, but then he wanted an out because things got too serious and the Satanists got pissed and murdered his family. so essentially he feels guilty and that's why he never attempted to prove himself to be innocent after he got convicted. seems like a possibility, doesn't it?
