@Alexia I appreciate how complex Lars' character is but the lack of groveling kind of seems like an unconscious exploitation of Ryan's low self-worth issues, leaving reaching out to him >_< It's safe to say that while I'm sympathetic to Lars, I'm definitely not happy with him!
