I have no clue why I'm refusing to throw in the towel here. The result of a lack of money and tons of heroin, the author himself didn't even read it until 20 years after its publication. It is that bad. There are sections so long and disturbing they can't be seen as artful in any way. And it is repetitive, confusing, and deeply dull. I don't even know if I want to finish out the author's catalogue anymore.
