Status Update

Becky is 44% done

Finished book 3 “In Darkness We Rise”. I still think the second was my favorite. The characters felt a bit juvenile to me in the way they spoke in this one, so it felt a bit disconnected from the content.

I also never really thought of fallen angels having fangs. Maybe it’s because my frame of reference is YA books from the early 2000s.

Wicked Demise - another no for me. Too cringy. An angel comes to a girl in her dreams to “help” her lose her virginity and then girl obtains morphine to meet him sooner……DNF

Veinfire was a different vibe from the rest in this anthology. Honestly, I thought it was a breath of fresh air and helped break everything up.

Book 4 - Sovereign - it was a no for me. The way the author decided to write is not for me. I don’t mind the content or possible triggers, but the words themselves are a choice. Too cringy for the content.

On to Veinfire (book 5). It’s starting off better, but we shall see.

Enjoying book 2 of the anthology quite a bit more. Book 1 was very heavy in gore horror for shock effect, and that’s never been something I enjoyed.
