Loving the story of Mei and Tony’s early dates. Such a meet cute!

This one particular plot point, though, I hope is not based on a true story. Could have left it out otherwise.

“Forget about a better China. Become a true American.”

Wow… That was a very disappointing view outlined against a supposed “rigged system” of America. Yet, our leading lady still
prefers the U.S. to her native country. 🤨

Oh gosh, I hope this plot point is not an autobiographical one. If it is, I am so sorry. If it is not, I wish it would have been left out. 😞 Truly nauseating.

I absolutely LOVE Grandpa Ping-An! 🙂

Still enjoyable, but veering a little too close to sounding like a memoir at times.

Excellent so far. An intriguing narrator’s voice, compelling the reader to keep turning the pages.

Moves between the present day of the story (around 2012) and reflections of the past (1960’s-‘70’s) seamlessly.
