I’m going to cry over this book.
At first it seems like this book is just a woman’s never ending trauma, never ending loss, never ending depression.
But through all her lives, stories, experiences, you seen how warm she has made the world around her. She does not see it. But she has been guardian angel, cherished teacher, righteous avenger, and soulmate. She doesn’t see it. But we do.

It’s interesting to see how different this story is to the side characters.
A weird crime mystery for the police woman. A wartime tragedy for the 1940 French woman. An odd and horrible travel adventure for the girl on the ship. A motherhood thriller for Leo’s mother.
And all of it, for Collette.

Going back and forth in her life, it’s becoming clear that that the reason Collette is becoming unhinged, wilder, more feral is because through all her life, she’s been part beast. She’s embraced her monster. She’s ripped out the throats of nazis and wolves and Eastern European bears. She’s lived in forests. Now, she’s living an orderly 1980s life and it’s unraveling her. She needs to be wild.

I can't remember who told me to read this, but I am enjoying it a lot. Thank you.
