Though Funke’s worldbuilding remains a nostalgic favourite of mine, I’m struggling with this one. It feels different to the previous, with the characters separated, and the book’s plot focusing on them reuniting again (a stage I hoped would be resolved far earlier so the tone of adventure could continue).
