The first part of the book describes Whig families in the early 18th centuries. Characters and figures are portrayed as having complex social webs which seems honest for high class British society at the time.
The book leads on to William's wife and then William himself who is almost described as a shrewd ubermensch. We'll see how things go. Is William Lamb perfect? This book needs to be shelved for now.
