This idea of Roo = smart and Ashley = not smart puzzles me every time I read this book. Ash is organised, a hard worker, gets good grades, and is usually sensible, whereas Roo makes consistently poor choices, including heading into the bayou during a storm because of an argument. Why does everyone think she’s the smart one?
