Only as they are about to leave Canada is her lack of a passport addressed 🙈

The main character, an 18-year old girl, spontaneously drives from New York City, to Boston, and then to Ottawa, Ontario but there’s no mention of her crossing over the border or needing to show her passport and the book is set in 2024. She wasn’t planning to visit Canada, so I doubt she’d have her passport with her??
