I’ve stumbled on this book expecting it to be a light-hearted pop history of drugs. It ain’t that!
It’s much much better!
It’s a well-thought, well-written and expertly research take on the development of the notion of drugs (both in the medical and entertainment sense) in the early modern Atlantic world.
The author follows the impressive back and forth of many substances across the ocean and its great.
