I wonder why he had to escape from his town and why they can hear each other's thoughts. What did he do, or what is he going to be used for? Why does he need to escape?

The tone and writing of the books is written as a typical teenager would, with censoring in a way( says effing instead of the actual word), which caught me off guard, but it also mentions loud noises like shouting or scowling as someone's Noise. It's also interesting to see the main character, Todd, provide a voice to the dog.
