The underlying logic of this book, organizing narrators by their intellectual and evolutionary abilities, is ambitious and satisfying, but Nicholas does seem to get mixed up with language he doesn't fully command: food doesn't masticate, it is masticated.

The alternating narrators, one of whom is in peril and the other a villain carrying out a plot, makes this story resemble Tarzan even more closely.
