Oh, I am fucking DONE with Daniel! No sympathy, I am just done.

This is so unendingly bleak and depressing.

I do wonder if I’d get more out of this if I were from Spain. A lot of this book feels like a “Take that!” at the Spanish government.

This is like parody-level! It’s as if he’s actively trying to write the most depressing piece of fiction imaginable!

So much of this series has felt very tongue-in-cheek, which contrasts bizarrely with the violent moments.

At this point in the series, even characters that I started out really liking, like Fernadito, have worn out their welcome. And that’s particularly frustrating because that shouldn’t be the case. But as with all my complaints, your mileage may vary.

I really do feel like I’m being told how evil Alicia is instead of shown. I’m frustrated.

Once again, this series does not pass the Bechdel test. And yes, I will keep complaining about stuff like this.
