Reading this is a mental workout! Written in 1966, Rieff’s argument that we have switched from a worship of God and ordered culture, into a self-help therapy/fix me first culture is 110% ON POINT! I’m so guilty of this as a Christian, (why I started reading this book) because I know i’ve turned my relationship with God into a stubborn “heal me” first rather than worship Him first! Excited to keep reading.
