“It almost slipped out unintentionally,” I say. “Besides, I don’t think Hartwell is just anyone.”
“Watch it, Cap. Don’t go falling in love with her.”

“Mavvy? That is an obnoxiously cute nickname, even if his pretty-boy charm doesn’t work on me.”

“You sure about that?” a low voice asks from behind me. “Maybe the charm is working, because you still think I’m pretty.”

“Your selective hearing is something else.”

“Someone really needs to knock you down a few pegs, pretty boy.” I elbow his stomach and give his shoulder a light shove as I push past him. He stumbles on his feet and falls onto his ass. I look down at him with an innocent smile. “Oops. I tripped.”

“Glad to know you still think I’m pretty.” His grin is proud as he stretches out on the ice

“Funny. I didn’t see your name on the building, hot shot.”
“All I heard in that sentence was hot.”

“The only thing I want to do with you, pretty boy, is kick your ass on the ice,” she whispers.
“You think I’m pretty?”
“You would only hear that part, wouldn’t you?”
