Sarah is a remarkable woman for her time period. I have read about women pirates, but not much on wives of pirates and buccaneers. I felt sympathy for the men and wives, because of the treatment sailors had to endure. Cruelty, depravation, little or no pay, health issues, and early deaths were all a part of their lives. Buccaneers and pirates were used and misused by political figures, to further their interests.

Sarah Kidd lived a long life, rare for a pirate's wife. It was not an easy life. Captain Kidd was executed along with other pirates, despite his wife's constant search for legal help, and help from those who profited from this well-known buccaneer

I was looking for something different, so hit the New biography shelves again. I was "hooked" from the first page in the prologue. Sarah Kidd, the wife of Buccaneer, Captain Kidd, is a very interesting story. I have not done any research on either of them, so this in new and fresh. I enjoyed the style of writing, the humanity that is in this book, about buccaneers and pirates in the 1600 and 1700s.
